Chapter Fourteen: Lincoln
For the first time in months, I woke up slowly.
There was no residual fear from a dream. I wasn’t drenched in sweat and my legs weren’t aching worse than usual. Instead, I felt comfortable, rested, like I had finally fallen asleep after months and months of staying awake.
I blinked my eyes at the early morning sun streaming in through the window. I felt good. I felt right.
I glanced to my left and nearly had a heart attack.
Curled up against my flank was Aubrie wearing only a loose T-shirt. I looked down at myself and realized that I was in only a pair of tight white boxer briefs.
What had happened the night before came rushing back. Aubrie’s body, her skin against mine, the overwhelming desire that overtook everything inside me. Grabbing her hips and fucking her deep.
And doing it again after that. And again. I couldn’t remember a time when I had laughed that much with a girl, let alone fucked over and over.
Despite that, I still had serious morning wood. My dick pressed against the cotton of my boxer briefs like it had a mind of its own. I grunted softly to myself as I looked at Brie’s sleeping body, her perfect fucking body.
Her completely off-limits body.
It hit me hard how fucked up it was that the first night since the accident that I didn’t have a nightmare was the first night I fucked my stepsister. Granted, I had wanted her even before our parents were officially married, but still.
There were so many layers to our story. Too much baggage to count. Most of it was mine, and I couldn’t deny that. Sometimes, I was afraid I would get pulled down by the weight of it all, and it scared me to think that maybe she could get pulled down with me. My whole life had been about plummeting toward the earth, but for the first time in my life, I wanted to stay grounded.
“Hey. Morning,” I said softly.
Brie stirred and then woke up with a start. “Lincoln? Shit, did we fall asleep?”
“Yeah.”
She looked panicked. “What time is it?”
“Still pretty early. Sun’s only been up for a little while.”
“Did anyone . . .?” she asked, trailing off.
“I don’t think so.”
She blinked and sat up slowly. “I can’t believe I fell asleep on the floor,” she said, giggling.
I propped myself up on one elbow and surveyed the hair that spilled down around her shoulders.
“I slept like a big drunk baby.”
She stretched. “How do drunk babies sleep?”
“Good. They’re drunk babies.”
She laughed. “I guess I should get going.”
“Sure.” I didn’t want her to go anywhere.
“I’ll sneak to my room. We don’t want to get caught together.”
“Right.”
She gave me a lingering look. “Should we talk about this?”
I grabbed her hand and pulled her against me, kissing her mouth. There was absolutely no resistance. I didn’t care about morning breath or any of that shit. I just wanted to kiss her as much as I could for as long as I could. She seemed to have the same thing in mind.
